As a graduate student, my research focused on various topics in Human-Computer Interaction.  While at Berkeley, my focus was on Tangible Computing and Peripheral Displays.  My Master's thesis was the PresenceDisplays project--physical peripheral awareness displays of online presence of close friends and family.

At UIUC, my focus remained on awareness information but presenting it in a mobile display. To motivate what types of awareness information are most useful to have on a mobile display, the Should I Call Now? study exposed what types of context information are considered when making a phone call.

I was able to apply my research experience in the areas of peripheral displays, awareness information, and mobile awareness in summer internships with Motorola Labs and Yahoo! Research.
